Dennis Matheis and John McCormick, M.D., have joined the Board of Directors of St. Louis-based Centric Health Resources.  Matheis is President of Alliance Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri. Dr. McCormick is the former Deputy Director of the Office of Orphan Product Development at the U. S. Food and Drug Administration in Washington, D.C. Both were elected to serve two-year terms on Centric’s Board of Directors.

 

Matheis has 17 years of experience in the health insurance industry. Prior to joining Alliance Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri, he was Chief Executive Officer of Advocate Health Partners in Chicago, and President and General Manager of CIGNA Healthcare of Illinois. He previously worked in St. Louis as President of Health Partners of the Midwest.

           

Dr. McCormick recently retired after spending the past 20 years serving the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, first in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research and then in the Office of Orphan Product Development. He has been responsible for reviewing Ophthalmic, Pediatric and Orphan product applications. Most recently he supervised the Designation Team and represented the Office Director in meetings with patient groups, regulatory officials and industry executives. Dr. McCormick received his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, was in private practice before joining the Food and Drug Administration.
